Grains reduce your visceral fat.
A study published in 2011 in the journal Obesity, binds the eating more soluble fiber to a reduction in visceral fat. This fat is deep, around the vital organs. Higher masses of this fat are associated with hypertension, diabetes and liver disease. For each additional daily intake of 10 g of soluble fiber in patients in the study, visceral fat was reduced by almost 4%. (Moreover, a moderate increase in activity resulted in a decrease of 7%): 175 ml (¾ cup) of cooked oatmeal provides 4 grams of fiber. The same amount of cooked barley provides 3 g.
